Advent Calendars for The Whole Family

The start of December will be here before you know it. Have you chosen your advent calendar yet? No longer is this tradition just for the kids and limited to a simple chocolate behind each door. Now you can count down the days to Christmas in a whole host of ways and there are advent calendars to suit the whole family. whatever you’re into, there is sure to be an advent calendar to suit.

I’ve found a great selection which I’m sure you’ll love or know someone else who will.

For the Imaginative – PlayMobil Advent Calendars

This year, Playmobil have released not one, not two but six advent calendars to choose from ranging from the traditional scene of Santa’s Workshop designed for younger ones to less festive sets that will be played with year round. We’ve opted for the Royal Ice Skating Trip calendar which builds to create a snowy woodland scene. Each calendar come with one special piece such as bracelet or light up lantern. In the Jewel Thief calendar, there is a mini working safe. This calendar would be fab for children who love role play games and come Christmas day, they’ll have a Playmobil set that they can play with over and over.

For the Thirsty – Victoria Mae Designs Tea Advent Calendar

For all tea lovers out there, Victoria Mae had come up with the perfect countdown to Christmas. Unwind each day with a hot brew as you check off your Christmas list or browse for gifts. This beautiful set of 25 paper sewn tea bags can be pegged to string to be opened each day doubling as a lovely festive decoration. Alternatively, you could get creative and hide the sachets for a loved one to discover each morning. There are five tea options to choose from including a mixed surprise selection. You can even request a decaffeinated version.

For the Artistic – So Close Advent Tree Colouring Poster

At almost 130cm tall, this has got to be one of the biggest advent calendars out there. This giant colouring tree, is divided into selections with a little bit to colour each day. This will be perfect for a little quiet time each day to wind down between elf antics and just general festive hype. Either display on a spare wall, the back of a door or roll it to stow it away each day. This calendar can be personalised too which makes it a lovely advent gift

For the Creative – Play Doh Advent Calendar

Little ones will have no end of fun with Play Doh’s advent calendar this year. It comes with a playmat and inside they’ll discover loads of festive cutters, mould and tools to create a fantastic Christmas scene. The advent calendar also contains five tubs of playdoh so there is plenty to last the entire festive season. A great calendar for creative little ones who love to make their own models and creations.

For the Chocoholic – Kinder Calendar

If you’re looking for chocolate but want something a little different, you can’t go wrong with Kinder. There is just something about it that takes me back to my childhood. They have a few different calendars this year ranging in price. It may not be as exciting as some of the others but i know ill be enjoying my Kinder chocolate every day in December.

For the Indecisive – Waxy Melts Co Crayon Advent Calendar

Waxy Melts Co have release a delightful calendar with two different coloured mini festive crayons behind each door. Children can choose a crayon to use to complete the colour by numbers picture included. This is a perfect preschool activity to encourage number recognition, decision making and fine motor skills but that’s just the teacher in me talking. My girls will love the Christmassy crayons and I’ll just have to control the urge to stop them colouring out the lines.

For the Re-user – Laser Cut Delights Wooden Advent Calendars

If you’re looking for an advent calendar you can use year after year, Laser Cut Delights offer a whole selection. I especially love the drop box calendars which you post a mini festive token into each day until Christmas. Alternatively, if you want to treat yourself or someone else to a festive tipple each day of advent, why not check out their fab Miniature Bottle advent tree.

For the Stationery Lover – Smiggle Advent Calendar

This beauty of an advent calendar was a late addition but I was so excited to get it. I’m pretty sure, a 35 year old mum of twins is not their target market but I just love a bit of stationery. The box is gorgeous and the contents wont disappoint. There is over £40 worth of goodies inside and even a bonus golden ticket glued to the back giving you the chance to find a £500 Smiggle voucher. Not to give too much away but you’ll find some useful and unexpected items hidden behind the doors.

Now I’ve checked out so many advent calendars, I can’t wait for December. I love the little bit of excitement you get each day from opening a door. Now instead you could be dropping a token or even unwrapping a mystery tea. Which one is your favourite?

Some of these calendars were kindly gifted for the purpose of this post. All thoughts and opinions remain those of Mummy2twindividuals.
